Hello ladies!
Okay so I’ve tried a few products that I LOVE this month that I think I should share:
Sephora powder foundation! $25
This powder is amazing. I love the texture and the way it feels on my face. Plus, it gives you a great matte finish while reducing shine. I use it as a powder over my liquid foundation becuase I have naturally reddish skin and need lots of color to hide that, but it can definetly be used as a basic powder foundation. Definetly worth your money! http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P61003&categoryId=B70 (Also, check out the other Bareminerals stuff! It’s really good!)
Sephora’s antibacterial brush set! $60
WORTH THE MONEY! I was skeptical when I saw that a set of 7 brushes cost 60 dollars, but I have to admit I am glad I made the purchase. The blush brush in particular is a favorite of mine. (It is so soft!) I really enjoy taking my time putting on my makeup now. With the proper tools, it is so easy to create the perfect makeup look!

Also, I have to mention that there are a few people on Youtube with wonderful makeup tutorials.
There is one whose name is Panacea or something like that who is fantastic. She has some really cool looks and takes her time showing you how to create them. My one complaint is that she normally uses MAC products and unfortunately, I can’t really afford to buy a bunch of MAC eyeshadows. Also, the shades that MAC has are hard to recreate. However, she is worth watching!
There is also another who is named Xsparkage who is awesome. She has really fun makeup tutorials and tricks on her channel that I love to watch. For instance, she’s created makeup looks based on both Superheroes and Twilight characters which I think is really fun!

High-waisted shorts

Celebrities seem to pull off this trend effortlessly — especially the tall ones, natch. But, if you’ve already thrown out the idea of adding high-waisted shorts to your wardrobe this summer, think again.

If you’re tall, you can go for high-waisted pants. Keep them no more than an inch or two above your natural waist, to avoid creating a line that cuts off your middle.

If you’re shorter, high-waisted shorts are nothing less than adorable and are a great alternative when you don’t want to just throw on a pair of shorts. (Did that make sense?)

ModCloth Smooth Sailing shorts, $29 ; BDG Destroyed Denim shorts, $58 at Urban Outfitters ; Silence and Noise Five-Pocket shorts, $58 at Urban Outfitters

What to add: Modern accessories to keep off the grandma vibe. Try a breezy top, an oversize t-shirt, or a loose v-neck. If you wear one-piece swimsuits, high-waisted shorts are an adorable cover-up.

Rompers

Again, you’ve probably seen the jumpsuit and the romper making a slow comeback into fashion. While the jumpsuit can be overwhelming on smaller frames, the romper complements any frame. They come in tons of colors, and are great coverups on the beach.

L to R: Urban Outfitters Kimchi Blue plaid onesie, $68; Forever21 Denim Romper, $27.80; Paul & Joe Sister Dark Grey Kiwi Jumpsuit, $235.

Yes, you’ve probably heard the infectious “I’m Yours” all over the radio recently, but this guy is so much more than one song. Actually, I first heard him on the airplane radio on a flight back from Europe when I was eleven, and he happens to be one of my favorite artists.

Presenting….Jason Mraz!

With music full of amazingly clever lyrics, Jason has a unique vocal style that fits his songs perfectly. While the songs may be impossible to sing to because of Jason’s killer fast vocals, his songs are more than just catchy. Each one is completely different from the previous song, but still feels connected to the rest of his repetoire. For example, from “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)”: “I saw fireworks from the freeway / And behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away / ‘Cause you were born on the fourth of july, freedom ring / Now something on the surface it stings / I said something on the surface / Well it kind of makes me nervous / Who says that you deserve this / And what kind of god would serve this?” Dripping with sharp lyrics and metaphors, Jason’s songs gracefully straddle the line between pop and eclectic. If you get the chance to see him live, don’t pass it up.

Genre: Pop, alternative, acoustic - rock with folk influences

For fans of: Ryan Cabrera, Matchbox 20, Maroon 5, John Mayer, Blake Lewis, acoustic guitar

You were wowed by his beatboxing & plaid pants on American Idol; he may not be grabbing up radio play like other Idol alums, but he’s more than worth a listen. Or two. Or three.

Presenting….Blake Lewis!

A beatboxer hailing from Seattle, Blake Lewis won over tons of fans on American Idol, making it to the final two against Jordin Sparks. He’s taken the beatboxing we saw on AI and brought it all to his debut album, Audio Day Dream. With a unique blend of hip-hop and electronica, Blake’s songs are infectious and incredibly dance-worthy. Perfect for working out, the majority of Blake’s songs are high energy and catchy. The slower songs still keep a certain beat and energy that’s not too fast for the lyrics, but not so slow that they’re a boring listen. The entire album is structured as more of a stream of conciousness than simply a collection of songs — from the intro, “Silence is Golden…” to the final track, “But I Prefer Noise”, the album itself is a musical experience filled with beatboxing, synthesizers, and piano.

Genre: Electronic, dance, pop

For fans of: Muse, Jason Mraz, Ryan Cabrera, 3OH!3, Lady GaGa, Gym Class Heroes.

Discography: Audio Day Dream (2007)

Worth a Listen: “She’s Makin’ Me Lose It”; “Know My Name”; “Hate 2 Love Her”; “1000 Miles”

The Last Words: Catchy, high energy, creative, smart, danceable.

o1. Origami

Ever since Cameron Diaz’s infamous 2007 Oscar dress, origami has slowly been sliding onto the scene. At the 2009 Oscars, both Marisa Tomei and Heidi Klum rocked the origami style. A toned-down verison of this trend is closer than you think.

o2. Oversize

The “bigger is better” theory has definitely graduated from Paris Hilton’s sunglasses. Now, big is all about the details; from a bow on a dress to shoes to jewelry, “big” is meant to be a visual contradiction

Taking a cue from Dior’s spring collection, shoes this season are all about excess. From studs to spectator pumps to gladiator sandals (back again!), shoes are stealing the spotlight again.

You’ve probably heard him singing “Fall for You” all over the radio for a while now, but that’s not the only song in this guy’s repetoire.

Presenting…..Secondhand Serenade!

Under the name Secondhand Serenade, John Vesely crafts gorgeous, raw yet polished songs. His songs were originally meant for his wife; the name comes from the fact that the rest of the world hears the songs “secondhand”. Nonetheless, John is a truly gifted songwriter, writing lyrics with layered, complex emotions. On his first album, Awake, he creates the illusion of a larger ensemble by multi-tracking his voice, when in reality, he’s the only one singing & playing music. His second album, A Twist in My Story, features a full band, but still leaves the listener with a sense of warmth and love.

Genre: Alternative, acoustic - rock

For fans of: Dashboard Confessional, Jason Mraz, Cartel, Jack’s Mannequin, acoustic guitar

Discography: Awake (2007), A Twist in My Story (2008)

Worth a Listen: “Vulnerable”; “Stay Close, Don’t Go”; “Maybe”

House of Holland

http://www.houseofholland.co.uk/

A personal favorite of mine, I can’t remember where I first found Henry Holland, the British genius behind House of Holland. But I do know that his bright graphic t-shirts and wildly tacky clothes are adorkable.

The t-shirts are two collections unto themselves, One Trick Pony and Fashion Groupies. If you’re familiar with the fashion world at all, you should recognize most of the names of the models on the shirts….Coco Rocha, Lily Donaldson, Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, et al. The shirts are meant to rhyme, as long as you have a British accent. Nonetheless, House of Holland is def a brand to watch.

Presenting…..This Providence.

Full of creative pop melodies layered with acoustic and indie influences, This Providence’s music is lighthearted but well-thought out at the same time. Perfect for the indie rock fan, their music will appeal to any fan of pop, punk, or alternative music. On the Fueled by Ramen label, they’re surrounded by anchors like PATD & Cute Is What We Aim For; the influences definitely show up in their music. The best possible way to describe This Providence is a cross between British band The Kooks (think “Ooh La”) and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump. The result is catchy hooks with clever lyrics in a unique style.

Genre: Alt - rock, acoustic, indie
